God's Gifts

1. my introduction meeting with the refugee that I'll be working with was today. it went so good! She is so sweet and she seems to be very determined to learn english, so I am excited. it is going to be a bit of a challange since I have never done ESL work before, so I will have to be creative. it was such a good first meeting and I am very excited to be helping her. Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30pm,and I cannot wait! Her name is Nancy Rojas and she's from Cuba,and she is so sweet and i am really looking forward to getting to know her better and helping her with her english as much as I can and beyond that. it's nice to feel needed. with most of my friends, I feel like they dont need me. They love me and care about me, but I dont make a difference for them. I can make a difference for Nancy, and that feels so good.
2. finally got my topic for my coms 111 speech!
3. got to sleep in this morning until 10am, so that was good. very low key week.
4. they did the "Burn Room" after chapel today, so that's always fun.
5. went to see the free movie in cullen tonight. it was "UP." it was nice and everything, but it didnt WOW me you know?it was missing a certain spice, that "oh so special something"that makes me love a movie.
6. I made a decision to be like the people in denmark. they are the happiest people in the world because they have low expectations, so they are always surprised for the better. so I am going to have low expectations from now on,and will be happier for it. i started today...instead of expecting my friend(initials BPB, bible major, church intern, greek tutor)to actually stop and talk to me, when he said hi to me, i just said hi back without even looking up, and once or twice i didnt turn around and another time i didnt even respond. i know this sounds mean, and i am not mad at him or anything. i am just sick and tired of always being dissapointed you know?and "a good scientist doesnt keep repeating the same experiement over and over, hoping to get different results."(from the disney channel movie GENIUS).
